29. Disposal
The Tulip is a single use, disposable item, and must never be autoclaved for re-use. The Tulip is a contaminated item after use and must be disposed of in the recommended fashion.
It is important to check the new Tulip and the packaging in which it is contained for breakage or contamination. If the packaging is in any way damaged the Tulip should not be used, as the sterility of the new product cannot be guaranteed. It is recommended that prior to use each new Tulip is inspected and tested by inflation and deflation as recommended within the ”Instructions For Use” that are enclosed with every Tulip in the packaging.
The Tulip should be inspected for shape seeking out any herniation, weakness or any indeed point of rupture that may have occurred in production or transport. The valve upon the pilot balloon should be checked and assessed for competent function. The transparent breathing lumen should be assessed for patency by inspection.
If any abnormality is found upon examination, the Tulip in question should be discarded and a new one assessed in a similar fashion.
